Tell Me about Royalties

In the publishing arena, royalties are a percentage of the price of a sold book. Larger publishers may pay advances on royalties if they expect the book to sell very well; royalties from the bigger publishers are between 5 and 10 percent of the retail price of the book. Other publishers, like Publishing Prep School, offer their authors royalties based on the books that are actually sold. If you decide to publish with Publishing Prep School, the Book Publishing Agreement will outline what royalties you’ll receive (usually starting at 25 percent of net), when you’ll receive those royalties, and quarterly reports of your books sold, returned and damaged.
